The Voice UK Winner Jermain Jackman to take over Camden and Docklands
TV Talent to take over reputable London Theatre School
On Wednesday 14th November and Saturday 17th November, former The Voice UK Winner Jermain Jackman shall be taking over the Docklands and Camden branches of the renowned Anna Fiorentini Theatre and Film School.
Home to approximately 300 students, the award-winning Anna Fiorentini Theatre and Film School has been providing performing arts classes to children aged 4-18 for 17 years. A former Fiorentini student himself, Jermain shall be working alongside singing teacher Catriona Mackenzie to provide masterclasses for current and prospective students.
Jermain Jackman is best known for winning the third series of BBC singing competition The Voice UK in 2014, shortly after winning Fiorentini’s Got Talent. Jermain went on to release his debut album in 2015 and has since appeared on other television shows throughout the BBC and CBBC, such as Pointless.
The Anna Fiorentini Theatre and Film School is a not for profit organisation and was set up to provide professional performing arts classes to children across London, regardless of their financial background.
Since being set up in 2001 it has gone on to win three Business of London Awards, and Anna Fiorentini has won the Inspirational Leader/Business Person Award at The Camden and Islington Business Awards. Via the Fiorentini Agency, students have gone on to land roles in film, TV and on stage such as Belinda Owusu (Libby Fox in EastEnders) and Jayden Jean-Paul-Denis (Frankie in CBBC’s Hank Zipzer and Simba in West End hit musical The Lion King) to name a few. The school has branches in Hackney and Greenwich as well as in the Docklands and Camden.
The students shall have the opportunity to develop their vocal technique throughout the Jermain Jackman workshops. The material worked on will aim to boost the children’s confidence as well as making students feel part of something special.
After the masterclasses the students will present a mini showcase to parents and Jermain will be conducting a Q&A. The Q&A will give parents, guardians and students the opportunity to gain insight into Jermain’s career, working with celebrities such as Will.i.am and how to be a success within the performing arts world.
In the run-up to this exciting masterclass, founder and principal Anna Fiorentini says, “we are very proud of our former student and are excited to be running a few masterclasses over the next year where several former celebrity students will be invited back to share their skills and experiences. This will provide great inspiration to our Camden students who will be putting on their very own show at the Arts Depot Theatre Finchley in May".
Quote from Jermain Jackman: " I'm so excited. Anna, her staff and everyone at the school work so hard and it's an honour to come to sing and dance with the young people's lives, that's what anna Fiorentini's school is doing and that's why they have my 100% support!"
Jermain will also be leading a Black History all day workshop at Clapton Girls' Academy on Friday 16th November in partnership with Stage & the City
